Getting Started: Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game

The Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game is a great way to take to the field and summon your favorite monsters and traps from the anime and manga, against your opponent to see who has the superior deck and the superior strategy. Players either buy or construct a deck of cards through a variety of options to then play in both casual or competitive settings. If you feel like summoning the power of Blue Eyes White Dragon is just the kind of game that appeals to you, then read on for a brief summery on how you can get started with our beginner’s purchasing guide.

As with most products, if you are brand new then we recommend starting with a learn-to-play video on YouTube. There are plenty of players who can explain the game in for more detail than we can here, but then you have three different avenues in which to get started with your collection.

One of these paths is by virtue of purchasing a Tin. These sets come with 54 cards, including secret rares, ultra rares, super rares, and rares, on top of common cards to build your deck. It can be a great and no-hassle method to get to playing with some decent cards. Alternatively, you can purchase a Structure Deck. These decks come with 46 cards that include ultra and super rares, as well as 5 special Token Cards, 1 Double-sided Deluxe Game Mat/Dueling Guide. Finally, you may choose instead to pick up a starter deck. These decks come with 40 cards, including ultra and super rares, as well as 1 Deluxe Game Mat/Dueling Guide. Any of these three products will see you well on your way to deepening your collection or starting off towards your first duel.
