Getting Started: Pathfinder Roleplaying Game

“The first rule of Pathfinder is that this game is yours. Use it to tell the stories that you want to tell, be the character you want to be, and share exciting adventures with your friends.”
-Pathfinder 2nd Edition Core Rulebook

A long time ago, Dungeons and Dragons was moving on from one edition to another, and some people were so in love with the edition being left behind, that it continued with a large following. This game eventually became diverse and popular enough, that it became its own system. That system is now known as Pathfinder! Pathfinder is a Roleplaying Game (RPG) that takes place in a fantasy world of it’s own creation. You can play as a number of different races and classes and go on any number of adventures that you write yourself or that you purchase off the shelf. Pathfinder has some different mechanics in comparison to D&D and some argue it has more specific, or deeper, nuances. Continue reading to find out how to start your adventures.

As a new player there are several recommendations to explore. A great way to get into the game is to simply purchase the 2nd edition beginner box. It comes with dice, pre-generated character sheets with rules on them for quick reference, a load of cardboard standees for monsters and enemies, a beginner’s pre-written adventure, the Game Master’s book, and light rules for your own custom character creations. You should also get your hands on the 2nd Edition Pathfinder Core Rules book and a set of polyhedron dice. Lastly, for the best experience, you might consider investing in a grid mat to play on with some miniatures. For more information, or to ask for a demo, please contact us or visit us at our location.
